Dora Schenkel of Co. Tipperary, Ireland and myself, of Zimbabwe, enjoyed a 3 day safari at Varden Safaris from the 18th to the 20th February, 2007.
Dora rode Cody and Apache and I rode Fortress and Champion. We found the horses to be of nice quality, mosty 3/4 bred, often ex-polo ponies, well schooled at their job and sure footed. Mrs. Varden makes every effort to match the horses to the proficiency of the riders and chooses trails accordingly. Tack was of a high standard and the grooms cared for
the horses well. Though the terrain is rugged there are chances for compentent riders to get in some fastish riding. We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure, saw giraffe, zebra and sable and would recommend this as a lovely African bush experience.
